Frequently asked questions
The most important questions about conni, answered clearly and concisely.
General
- What is conni?
conni is middleware that connects Datafox time-tracking terminals automatically and GDPR-compliantly with HR and time-tracking software such as Personio, Papershift or HiBob.
- Which software can conni connect?
conni connects Personio, Papershift, HiBob, clockodo, Staffomatic, Aplano, TimeButler, sameSYSTEM and HRworks, among others. Missing your software? We'll check the integration.
- Which Datafox terminals does conni offer?
Five models: EVO 3.5 Pure, 5.0 Pure, 5.0 Flex (recommended), 4.3 Flex and 7.0 Flex.
- Is the data transfer GDPR-compliant?
Yes. conni uses official APIs, transfers data encrypted and runs on servers in Germany.
- Can I keep using my existing terminal or transponder?
In many cases yes. For terminals we check compatibility, for transponders there's the free transponder test.
- Can I try conni first?
Yes. With the test box you can try conni free for 4 weeks, including a Datafox terminal and 10 transponders.
- How does remote maintenance work?
On request and with your approval via TeamViewer and DatafoxStudio, only for the duration of the session.
- What does the terminal need on the network?
An internet connection via LAN or Wi-Fi; it gets its address automatically via DHCP. The terminal establishes the encrypted connection itself, so you don't need to open anything for incoming traffic.
You'll receive the exact firewall settings during setup.
Quick troubleshooting
- Clocked times don't show up in our software
The most common reason: someone forgot to clock out. Many programs only show working time once it's complete. Nothing is lost, we're happy to send you the recorded times.
The “Automatic clock-out” module, available for some integrations, solves this for good.
- The terminal isn't connecting to conni
First check the connection:
- LAN: Is the network cable plugged in?
- Wi-Fi: Is the terminal connected to the right network?
- Which date does the display show? If it's more than a month in the past, the terminal's clock needs to be set.
If that doesn't help, contact our support. We'll check the settings together with you.
- The terminal shows “Device not registered yet”
The terminal hasn't been fully set up on our side yet, for example because the serial number or device type is missing. Send both to our support and we'll activate it.
- No transponder ID is shown when clocking in
This means the terminal is set up for a different transponder type than the one you use. The terminal needs a new setup. Contact our support and we'll install it.
- A fingerprint can't be deleted
Select “Delete finger” on the terminal. When asked for the ID, place the finger on the sensor instead of typing in the ID.
- A person is shown as locked or inactive although they are active
Usually a wrong user ID was entered when the person was set up. Check in your software that the person exists, is active and has the same ID. If everything matches, contact our support.
- Buttons are missing in the system menu, e.g. LAN parameters
The terminal booted straight into the BIOS menu, where not all functions are visible. Restart the terminal, wait until it has fully started, then open the menu as usual via the logo.
